Maggie Mae 7lbs 18.5 inches

She's here!!! Maggie was born Monday, May 23rd at 2:02 pm weighing in at 7lbs and measuring 18.5 inches. Yes...we are all shocked at how tiny she is! Jackson and I both were 8.5+ babies so we expected her to be 8lbs.
So, like usual, let me back up to Friday, May 20th.....
We had Jen and Dean's rehearsal dinner that night, which was delicious! However when we got home, I had a pretty painful contraction, and another in the middle of the night. Of course we were praying that nothing would happen until after the wedding. I woke up feeling fine and began our day of wedding festivities. The wedding was fantastic, and Jen was a BEAUTIFUL bride....Dean was a handsome groom! :) At the reception, I had a few more contractions....but only told Jackson and my sister so I didn't freak anyone out. We made it through the night and the next day with still no baby. Sunday night I packed up the last minute items and crawled in bed around 9:45 knowing that 4am was coming soon! Everyone told me I would not sleep that night due to being anxious.....WRONG!! I slept great! My alarm went off and we got ready and headed to the hospital. On the way their Miss Maggie kicked the whole time, and I had two contractions between EC and Sugar Land.
Once we got there, the nurses immediately started my IV and did all the necessary paperwork....the ball was rolling considering that it was 5:30am! Dr. Gubbels showed up at 7, broke my water (ouch!!!), mom showed up at 7:30....and the contractions were about 3 mins apart and were sharp and quick...they did slow down to about 5 mins but began to last longer. Alicia, Beverly, and my dad showed up shortly after 8 and Alicia thought it was fun to take pictures of me during the contractions-S0 not cool!! haha At 9:30 they upped the potocin and they really began to kick in! The nurse was suppose to be back at 10 to check me so I figured I would ask for the epidural then....NOPE...at 9:40 I sent Jackson looking for the nurse because the pain was increasing! They came in, gave me my epidural, and I feel asleep for about 30 mins and then they checked me at 11:30....I was 8-9 cm dilated! Things were moving quicker!! Chad and Robin showed up just in time!! The nurse checked again at 12:15....I was ready!! We sent everyone to lunch with orders to bring us back some food! By the time everything was ready, I started to push around 1:15. However, my contractions started to slow and I had to take about 4 five minute breaks. At 2:02pm....I heard the sweetest cry ever!! Maggie was here! I think my first words were, "She sounds a little like Donald Duck whens he cries!" EVERYONE was right when they told me how much I would instantly change when she arrived. I did! Our hearts melted and we fell in love with her instantly! The family got to come back in around 3pm to meet the newest addition to the family! They too fell in love with her!
Something I haven't mentioned yet is my husband.....He was absolutely AWESOME!! He did not miss a beat! He was constantly checking on me making sure I was comfortable and had what I needed. He NEVER left my side!
That evening we had visitors from James and Theresa Pierce- who brought the most gorgeous flowers- Granny and Aunt Becky, Slade and Tiffany, and Sloane and Clay. Maggie got lots of love from everyone!! They all left that night and it was officially mommy, daddy, and Maggie! Yikes! haha The night went well....or at least we thought so because we didn't know what we were doing! On Tuesday Jackson helped me shower and we met the most awesome nurse named Ayn. She is a lactation specialist at the hospital. She gave me lots of support and info on breastfeeding - since I had a reduction in 2007, we knew it was probably going to be difficult. Maggie passed ther jaundice test and hearing test, so at 4:00 we headed home with our little angel! We stopped by my Memaw's house when we got into town so she could see her new great granddaughter, and Aunt Sheri stopped by and saw her too! When we got home, Amy and the Stary crew came by and mom brought pizza for supper. Maggie gave her first smile to Layton when he was holding her - I think they are going to be best buds!!
Again....everyone went home and it was just us three alone! Well, the night did not go so well....Maggie SCREAMED most of the night. I laid in the recliner and held her while Jackson laid on the couch/bed and listened and kept me calm. The next morning we called to schedule our fist appointment with Dr. Dimick - lucky for us they saw us that morning! Maggie weighed in at 6lbs 6oz and the dr. said she looked great!!! We headed home and all three of us slept ALL day!

Night two wasn't as bad as night 1, but Jackson did move her bassinet to her room and turned the monitor on so I could still see her. Of course I laid in bed and cried. I would try to feed her every three hours, but when I picked her up she went to sleep. She was only eating 1-2 times a day!! But...the drYAY!! Who thought we'd ever be so excited about a poopy diaper??!! Since then she has been sleeping at night, eating every 2-3 hours and is peeing and pooping regularly!
Daddy went back to work today so it's just me, Maggie, and Annie!

Another thing I didn't mention was the meeting of Annie and Maggie.....Annie sniffed and licked her, but could not figure out the sounds that she made. She is jealous, but is handling it well. If Maggie is in our lap, so is Annie. When Annie wakes up or comes in from outside, she immediately checks the bassinet to see if Maggie is in there. I can tell she is going to be a protective big sister! She did give me a heart attack this morning....Maggie was sleeping on my bed and I had to go to the bathroom. I closed the bedroom door behind me so Annie wouldn't go in there. When I came out of the bathroom, the bedroom door was open...I freaked out!! I ran in there to find Annie laying next to Maggie looking at her sleep. I guess when I closed the door I didn't close it "all the way." Lesson learned!

We survived our fist weeks as parents, and I must say it has been the roughest yet most wonderful week of my life!!! Jackson has done a wonderful job taking care of his new little family! He is absolutely wonderful with Maggie and I can tell she adores her daddy!!! Below are some pictures that I have taken throughout the week. I promise to blog more frequently!!  ENJOY!

36 weeks and counting down....

I know it has been forever since I've blogged....but we have been super busy and tired! Ugh!

Ok...I'm going to back up a little....The last week of April we had the famous TAKS test - that means I was on my feet ALL day actively monitoring. When I got home that Wednesday, I felt the most horrible pain yet as I was getting out of my car. I immediately felt lots of pressure and my pelvic bone was hurting. I couldn't even walk. After a few minutes, I slowly made my way into the house and laid down for a bit. I started to feel better, but still not 100 %. Then the next day at work, everything was fine until about 3:40...I stood up from my desk and the pain hit me again! I felt paralyzed from the waist down- couldn't even take a step! Luckily I could reach the intercom button on my room phone and called Leslie to come to the rescue. Of course I didn't want to freak her out so I just asked her to come to my room. Upon arriving she knew something was wrong. I called my doctor and she graciously waited with me. However, 30mins went by and he hadn't called back. Since Jackson was at home, she helped me to my car and I headed home to him. The pain again subsided after a while, but I still didn't feel right. When the dr. called back, he just said I was having normal pregnancy pains and not to worry unless I had bad cramping or spotting. Since my pregnancy has been sooooo great....I believed him and that Friday I took it extra easy and didn't do much, but I did have some swollen feet!

On Saturday morning, I woke up early to get ready for Sarah Buss' wedding shower. Unfortunately, my feet were rather large! I opted to skip the shower and lay in bed with my feet propped up. Jackson was at the bay fishing....or I should say sobering up from the night before, so I got a lot of rest that day. That evening Jackson and I attended Sarah and Todd's couples shower at the Country Club. It was a really nice shower! We spent the evening visiting with the soon to be newly weds, the Little's, the Savino's, and the Ball's!!! Yes, I got to see my Katie!!! We had a great time catching up with everyone and cannot wait until the big day in June!!
Sunday morning we woke early for baptism class. Alicia and Chad are Maggie's godparents, and Slade and Robin are the Christian Witnesses. Jackson and I are really excited about being able to include all four of them in the baptism. Maggie is lucky to have such wonderful aunts and uncles! After the class, Jackson and I did some errands in town and had a very lazy Sunday. It was nice to be able to have such a relaxing weekend!!
This past Tuesday, the 4th grade teachers gave me a beautiful baby shower at school!! Lots of teachers and aides attended, and my mom and sister did as well. Maggie and I were blessed with lots of goodies that will come in handy once she arrives! Everyone was so gracious....I don't know what I am going to do with all my "family" next year! :(

After my shower, I again had the horrible pains I had gotten the week prior....and my body seems to get more sore daily.....
So Thursday I went for my 36 week appointment - gained 2 more pounds for a total of 17. I thought this was going to be my first exam, but he didn't...he said that since most first time moms make it to their due date, he would wait and exam me next week-Friday 13th! I again talked to him about the pressure and pains I had been having. Again...he assured me it was normal. Well.....when I laid down for him to listen to the heart beat, he began to feel on my tummy.....as his pushed around....we worked his way lower, and lower, and then suddenly had a shocked look on his face. He said, "Wow, he head is really wedged down there. She is already really low. How does a May baby sound?" Of course I said May would be fantastic!!! He told me about a month ago that he didn't think I'd make my due date and would like to see me home with her Memorial Weekend, so I wasn't too shocked that he said this again. It does make me feel better to know that the pains I have are from that and are normal....because they are painful!!!! So I'm hoping that if she doesn't come on her own soon, that he will induce on the 23rd. I have two weddings between now and then, and Jackson and I have already decided that unless I am physically in the hospital, we will be attending both. Both couples are special people in our lives and we do not want to miss their big days!!!

Yesterday Mom and I spent the day in Houston shopping. I got all the last minute baby stuff that I needed, and mom shopped for dresses for the two weddings. I did lots of sitting throughout the day so that my feet wouldn't swell. I made it through most of the day, then my soreness turned into pain! I made it home and took a warm bath hoping that would help.....not so much. Annie and crawled in bed and I was pretty much stuck there all night because I hurt too bad to get up. Jackson is at Lake Travis all weekend, so I really wish I would have chosen to stay at my moms, but I didn't. Today I'm cleaning house and working in Maggie's room....and taking it easy!!!

haha Below are a few pics from the school shower. I will post next week after my appointment!
